Making Homemade Baby Food: Round 1

Now that Cameron is 6 months old, we have the go ahead from the doctor to start more solids. So we are beginning with vegetables and I decided to start with squash. I found this awesome website http://www.wholesomebabyfood.com which gives everything from suggested food for ages, recipes, etc. And I found the recipe for squash which was incredibly easy. It was a fun process which I enjoyed doing so I wanted to share. Here is the process.

1. Cut the squash in half and remove the seeds.

2. Place squash face down in dish with 1 in. of water.

3. Place dish in 400 degree oven for 30-40 minutes until skin puckers.

4. Showing off the skin puckering.

5. Starting to remove the "meat" of the squash from the skin.

6. Left over skin.

7. Ready to be pureed in the blender.

7. Final pureed squash ready to be frozen. (I had to add a little water to get to the right consistency.)

8. And here is the squash in ice cube trays ready to be frozen.

Cameron loved the squash!!! We took a video of it, so when I figure out how to put the video on then I'll post it.

Here is my cutie pie!!!!

Cameron is 6 months old!!!!!

I cannot believe that Cameron is 6 months old!!! It does not seem like he should be growing up so fast. He is such a joy. He is so beautiful or I guess I should say handsome. And his smile just melts my heart. Here are a few things going on in Cameron's life.

  • Working on sitting up on his own

Sitting up on the couch (he just wants to watch TV)
Cameron just slides or falls out of sitting up

  •  Teething (although I cannot feel anything yet)
Chewing on one of his many teething rings
Trying to chew on his Christmas present "Toy Story"
  • Enjoying his rice cereal and getting ready to start vegetables, other grains, and fruits
Enjoying his food especially when daddy feeds him
Daddy is really good getting the food in Cameron's mouth:)
Cameron is eyeing my food more and more and cannot wait until he gets to eat off my plate.
Cameron certainly loves the Sonic cup, so it gives me another reason to frequent Sonic,  yeah!!!
  • Preparing to crawl and in the meantime rolling around everywhere (while we try frantically to baby proof the house)
Getting up on his knees
Holding his head and upper body up
  • Enjoyed his 1st Christmas
Trying to figure out this unwrap paper and then there is a toy thing
"This is big, I wonder if I can get it in my mouth"
Clothes - just like any boy he is not as excited about the clothes
Granddad and Grandma got him a barn set - so adorable
Cameron got a wagon...
and a drum.
Doesn't he look excited, but he is also trying not to slide in the wagon.
The closest thing I got to a family picture for Christmas
Granddad and Uncle Jim in his "First Christmas" sleeper from Greg
Having fun with Travis and mommy
Loving the wrapping paper!!

  • And just being so cute.

His first shower

"I want to dress like daddy and granddad"

Rolling into everything including feet, furniture, toys, and anything else in his way.

That is my little Cameron who is just growing up so fast. I am truly blessed to get to stay home with him everyday. Yes, he does wear me out and stress me out quite often. But what a blessing he is to Daniel and I and our whole family. God Bless.
